IOS 11.3 update is destroying the iPhone 8 phones that have been repaired
As you probably recall, Apple released an update a few years ago that causes iPhone phones that have been fixed at non-certified repair shops to stop working by displaying the "Error 53" error message. We thought Apple learned from the reaction that followed, but apparently she did not learn from it.
According to a recent report from Motherboard, iPhone 8 users seem to complain that their phone's touch screens have been disrupted after replacing the screen at the informal repair shops after upgrading their devices to iOS 11.3. While their phones have not completely stopped working, this update makes their smartphones largely useless because touch is the only way to interact with the device.
While Apple has not yet officially commented on the issue, it has been speculated that this may be due to the special chip built-in screen. Prior to that, the repair shops that repaired the iPhone 8 only replaced the screen and did not upgrade that particular chip, which made the iOS 11.3 update essentially reject all touch input.
It's no secret that Apple does not like customers to go to informal repair shops, but because of the cost of repairing iPhones at official repair shops, it's not surprising that customers turn to other companies.
