Google supports your protection from malicious websites while browsing through Android applications

Google announced that the Google Play Protect store protection feature brings safe browsing from this month by default to the WebView feature.

In 2007, Google launched Safe Browsing, which is designed to protect users from the web from phishing and malware attacks. Last year, the company said the feature protected more than 3 billion devices from an increasing number of threats and now supports unwanted software across desktop and mobile platforms.

Today, Google announced that the Google Play Protect store protection feature brings Safe Browsing from this month by default to the WebView feature that displays Web pages within applications without having to open a separate web browser with WebView version 66.

According to the company, Android application developers who use WebView no longer need to make any changes to take advantage of this protection. Safe browsing has been provided in the WebView since Android 8.0 "Oreo", using the same basic technology used in Chrome on Android.

When Safe Browsing is turned on, the app will give a warning and you will receive a network error. Applications designed for the API API level 27 and above can customize this behavior using the new Safe Browsing APIs.
