Apple confirms that it will fix the bug that makes Siri reveal the content of hidden notifications
Using the notification system in Apple's operating system, users have the option to display a preview of the notification when they receive it, or hide it so that no one can see the contents of the notification until the phone is unlocked. But recently a bug has been found in the Siri PDA that bypasses that protection and displays the content of hidden notifications.
According to a new report recently released by Engadget, Apple has assured it that it is aware of the problem and will issue a reform. "We are aware of this problem and will be addressed in the next update," Apple said. It is not clear when the update will be released and whether users will have to wait until iOS 11.3 is released or whether the fix will be released in the near future.
In case you have not heard about it before, this problem has been monitored by Mac Magazine, and it seems easy to exploit this bug. All that users have to do is open the Siri PDA and ask them to read your notifications out loud, and then even though these notifications are supposed to be hidden, they will be fully detected by Siri. However, note that this problem applies only to third-party applications.
This means that if you are a person who communicates primarily with Apple applications such as Apple Messages, you should be safe. However, if you are using third-party applications such as WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, etc., there may be a problem. This error has been detected in the latest version of iOS and appears to be still in iOS 11.3 which is still in beta. However, Apple has assured us that it will soon fix it. Until then, we believe that users will only need to be extra careful about this type of error, or it may be a good idea to temporarily disable notifications until the fix is issued.
