WhatsApp application for Android allows users to re-download deleted media files
Sometimes when we clean the phone contents, we may delete a file or two by chance. If these files are sent over WhatsApp, you may be pleased to know that they may not be lost forever because, according to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp users on Android will now be able to reload the deleted files.
This is actually an interesting discovery and has an effect as well. Previously, WhatsApp stored media files such as images and videos that were not uploaded to their servers for up to 30 days. This means that if you have not downloaded the files because you are outside the country and you do not have an Internet or if your phone is fixed, do not worry because you will be able to upload it when you return, and then the files will be removed from WhatsApp servers.
With this change, this means that WhatsApp stores media files on their servers even after they are downloaded. It is not clear whether you keep these files stored, but according to the WABetaInfo tests, it was able to download old files about 3 months ago, which suggests that WhatsApp may have stored your old media files for at least three months, It was not longer.
While we are sure that some people may be concerned about how WhatsApp keeps their files on their servers for a long period of time, note that the WhatsApp application has a close encryption of data. This feature appears to be available only to Android users, not iOS users, at least so far.
