SnapeChat provides new filters for TrueDepth camera in iPhone X
SnapeChat announced a new update for iPhone X users that includes 3 filters available on the TrueDepth camera of the phone, which were tested during the official phone announcement last September but were not available at the time.
The new update has 3 special filters: Face Wrestling Mask, Crown, and Mask. To access these filters, you can open the Snape application and select the front camera and press the center of the screen to enjoy the new filters. The update includes help the phone fully recognize the face while Motion, and TrueDepth camera give you photos in a 3D way.
The recent Facebook scandal has raised a lot of concern about how user data is collected and used by social media services, but there is no concern about using TrueDepth, because it will not be able to access your face data to put it in a profile or to target you with ads.
This is because Face ID securely unlocks iPhone X, allowing you to use iTunes Store, App Store, iBooks Store, and Apple Pay payments, which is quite different from the 3D face representation used in TrueDepth's enhanced applications.
Face ID data is a unique mathematical representation encoded and stored in the iPhone's Secure Enclave chip, which Apple can not access, while camera applications give you a three-dimensional representation of your face shape and expressions you make. Use it to hack your phone.
What's more, Apple does not allow apps that access the TrueDepth camera to use your face data in advertising or marketing, or to collect and sell it to third-party data intermediaries and the like.
