Samsung may allow users to make video conversations using AR Emoji in the future

Samsung released its own version of Animoji with the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ earlier this year. This feature is known as AR Emoji and is slightly different from Apple's Animoji feature because it creates a full digital version of the user that can then be used to add more fun to conversations. The company seems to have thought about allowing users to participate in video conversations using their AR Emoji images.

Samsung has recently awarded a new patent for technology that will enable users to video chat with each other using 3D models of their faces, essentially using AR Emoji. It has been described by Samsung as a patent since 2013.

You usually need a faster data transfer rate for visual conversations because they tend to be high latency because images should be serialized and compressed before being transferred to the other device. "There is a need for a visual communication system capable of displaying the user's actual likeness, facial expressions and real-time movement, while reducing the data transfer rate."

The patent also states that the current method of video chat also makes it difficult for users to make eye contact with the other party because the camera is not installed on the screen. Could this be one of the features reserved by Samsung for the Galaxy S10 to be released next year to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the launch of the Galaxy S Series? Only time can prove it.
