Instagram is testing the Nametags feature, another feature borrowed from Snapchat

If you want to add someone to Instagram, you will need to type the username to search for their personal account before adding it. It's not the best way to add users, but it's not the worst. However, Instagram seems to have "borrowed" another feature from the Snapchat application called Nametags.

This feature was confirmed by TechCrunch, where Instagram confirmed that it is currently testing this feature. For those who did not understand the purpose of the Nametags feature, it seems to work similarly to the QR Codes feature in the Snapchat application where users can scan the QR Code of the Snapchat user to add it to the Friends list. Similar features are used in many other chat applications such as LINE, so this is not the first time we hear about this feature.
In Instagram, the default is the same as users scan the Nametags code to follow the user. This may be useful for brands and companies so that these brands and companies can simply create a Nametag or print it on a banner, poster or commodity so that users can direct their smartphone cameras to follow them on Instagram.

However, as this feature is currently being tested, we do not have any information about when it will be available to everyone. In both cases, we'll keep an eye on when exactly this will happen, but you can see the Nametag demo in the video above.
