Mozilla stops its ad campaigns on Facebook after user data leaks
You may have heard about the news about user data leakage that has been confirmed by Facebook. The company has explained it and says it plans to take concrete steps to ensure that nothing like this happens again, but #deletefacebook has rebounded on the Internet because its users are dissatisfied with how it was handled. Now, some advertisers seem to have other ideas as well. Mozilla recently announced that it will stop all its advertising campaigns on Facebook.
"After this whole episode, Mozilla has taken a closer look at Facebook 's current privacy settings and feels justified in doing so, as it supports the platform in its failure to spend on advertising," Mozilla says in one post on its official blog.
The company recalls that although there is more to know about these settings, I've found that the current default settings still leave much of the data associated with settings specific to third-party applications.
Mozilla has expressed confidence that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg will fulfill his promise to improve privacy settings and provide greater protection for user data. Mozilla says it will reconsider its decision to stop advertising campaigns on the Facebook network when the latter takes stronger action on how to share customer data and enhance the privacy settings of third-party applications.
