Facebook Express Wi-Fi is released on Android platform
Facebook has created a new application as part of its efforts to deploy WiFi networks in developing countries. The Facebook Express Wi-Fi application for Android will enable users in those countries to pay for access to WiFi networks. Users can run the application to purchase data packets and then find nearby contact points to access the Internet. It will make the entire process much easier than before.
Prior to the release of the Facebook Express Wi-Fi application for the Android platform, users had to access the service through a web browser on mobile devices or download an application from the local telecommunications company. This often involves the need to reconfigure your phone settings, unnecessarily complicating things. In addition, neither method allowed users to find nearby WiFi points.
All these points have been dealt with with this new application. Users in Indonesia and Kenya can now download Facebook Express Wi-Fi to Android devices, buy data packets and easily locate nearby WiFi points. Facebook is supported by local business owners who manage WiFi points that nearby users can pay to access.
"Facebook launched the Facebook Express Wi-Fi app in the Google Play Store to give people another simple and secure way to access the Internet quickly and inexpensively through local WiFi hotspots," Facebook said in a statement. Although the application is only available in two countries, Facebook Express Wi-Fi has already been launched in five countries including Tanzania, Nigeria and India.
