Tests confirm that iOS 11.3 allows older iPhones restore their original performance

When Apple confirmed that it was actually slowing down the old iPhone, which included degraded batteries, the company said at the same time that it would allow users in the future to disable the option to throttle the speed of their smartphones and return them to their previous performance. For those who wonder whether these allegations are true, Filipe Esposito has conducted some tests that confirm these claims.

According to the results of the performance tests, it has been revealed that Apple's recent iOS 10.3 beta update actually allows older iPhone phones to restore their original speed. In the tests, the iPhone 6 Plus achieved about 1,306 points in a single kernel test and about 2247 points in the multiple cores test. However, after the throttle option was disabled, the results improved to 1510 points in a single kernel test and about 2621 points in the multi-core test That the iOS 11.3 update is still in beta, which means that the final version of this update can lead to better results.

However, the differences at present are encouraging as they show a marked difference in speed. However, it remains to be seen how this will affect your usage habits in the real world, but at least it is clear that there are changes on paper. Of course, the downside to disabling the option of throttling processor speed is the random shutdown of the iPhone in case if its battery is degraded and unable to keep pace with the original processor speed.

In addition to disabling the wizard option, iOS 11.3 also brings with it the "Battery Health" feature, which allows users to see the health status of their device's battery. Unfortunately, there is currently no information about when Apple plans to release the official and final version of iOS 11.3 update, but we hope it will happen in the near future.
