Samsung confirms that Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ can measure your blood pressure

Earlier this month, we told you that a Samsung optical sensor was designed to measure blood pressure. At that time, we thought that Samsung would use this sensor in its smart receiving hours, but Samsung decided to surprise us after announcing that the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 include such a sensor.

In addition to blood pressure, these phones can also measure stress levels. Samsung also plans to expand Bixby's digital assistant skills to allow it to judge the calories in the meal by looking only at the camera.

The technology was developed in collaboration with the University of California San Francisco as part of a collaboration called My BP Lab. Users can choose to participate in a three-week UCFS study on stress and how it affects people throughout their day. They will answer questions about how they spend their day, how much they exercise and how they sleep, and then these data will be linked with blood pressure and stress levels.

"This is why we have developed a revolutionary optical sensor in the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9," said Peter Koo, vice president and director of Samsung's Health Service Team. We are pleased to partner with UCSF to leverage this sensor and contribute to research that will provide users with critical and meaningful feedback on their health. "
