All about backup with Google Drive for Whatsapp


You can back up your chats and your media with the Google Drive Whatsapp so you can restore and transfer them. Create a backup in Google Drive
Follow these instructions to create a backup in Google Drive:

1- Open Whatsapp.
2- Go to the Menu button> Settings> Chats> Back up chats.
3- Click Back up in Google Drive and select when you want the backup to happen as often as you like.
4- You'll be asked to choose the Google Account you want to back up from. If you do not have a Google Account, click Add account when it appears on the screen. Please save the Google Account you will use to back up.
5- Click Backup by connection type to choose the type of network you want to use to back up. It is important to note that backing up while connected to the Internet through the cellular network may cause you to incur additional charges for using cellular data.

You can also manually back up your Google Drive chats at any time:

1- Open Whatsapp.
2- Go to the Menu button> Settings> Chats> Back up chats.
3- Click Back up in Google Drive and select when you want your backup to be repeated, choose any option other than Never.
4- Click Backup to start the backup in Google Drive. This process may take a few minutes.

Note: Your first backup may take some time depending on the size of the chats. We recommend that you connect your phone to a power source. However, the following backup versions are incremental, meaning they will not require a full new backup of all your data at a time.

Important: The media and messages you back up in Google Drive are not protected by Wassab's full encryption when you're in Google Drive.

Restore data from backup in Google Drive
In order to recover your data from a backup in Google Drive successfully, you must use the same phone number and Google Account that you used to back up. Follow these instructions to restore your data from the backup:

Make sure you've added the same Google Account you used to your phone to your phone.
Remove and reinstall Whatsapp.
After verifying your number at Whatsapp, you will be asked to recover your messages and media from Google Drive.
After the restore process finishes, click Next and your chats will appear as soon as the configuration is complete.
After restoring your chats, Whatsapp will start restoring media files.

Set backup settings in Google Drive
Follow these instructions to change the backup time in Google Drive:

Open Whatsapp.
Go to the Menu button> Settings> Chats> Back up chats.
Click Back up in Google Drive.
Select when you want the backup to be repeated as desired.
Follow the instructions below to change the Google Account you want to use to back up.

Open Whatsapp.
Go to the Menu button> Settings> Chats> Back up chats.
Click the account and choose the account you want to back up from.
Note: If you change your Google Account, you will not be able to access the backup files associated with the other account or accounts.
Follow the instructions below to change the type of connection you want to use to back up.

Open Whatsapp.
Go to the Menu button> Settings> Chats> Back up chats.
Click Backup by connection type and choose the type of network you want to use to back up.
Delete the backup files from your Google Account
Follow the instructions below to remove data and account from Google Drive.

Go to Google Drive at https://drive.google.com and sign in to your account. If you're using your phone to access the link, click the menu button in the top right corner of the screen and then choose Desktop Edition.
Click the gear icon in the top right corner of the screen> Settings> Manage apps> WhatsApp.
Look for WhatsApp in the list. It may take a few minutes for the list to appear.
After you see it, wait a while for the "Hidden app data" size to appear, which may take some time as well.
Click Options> Delete hidden app data.
Corrective steps to address backup problems with Google Drive

If you can not create a backup in Google Drive, follow these instructions:
