LG is probably working on developing MicroLED screens for smart phones, according to new evidence
LG has provided the necessary papers for three new brands in Europe, all of which relate to the marketing of MicroLED screens. The brands that the South Korean company wants to own are XμLED and SμLED plus XLμLED.
If LG has been granted these brands and is already planning to use them in the products you ship, we are not sure about the quality of their acceptance because it is a little strange to go with "μLED" instead of "MicroLED", which would be a problem for people who find Difficult to read this type of nouns.
However, according to information contained in the application to the EU Trademark and Trademark Office, these brands are primarily for "mobile devices, smartphones". So far, we have seen a huge Samsung TV based on MicroLED technology, and there have been rumors of Apple's intention to move to use MicroLED screens in its wearable devices. However, this is the first time we've got a hint about a screen manufacturer working on creating MicroLED screens for the smartphone market.
The trademark file provided by LG also indicates that the latter is also interested in bringing MicroLED screens to other devices, including laptops, tablets, wearables, virtual reality goggles, and a number of other devices. However, we have to wait to see what the first product LG will use in this new type of screen.
