Facebook now allows fans to support creators by monthly payments
If you watch a lot of content on YouTube, you should definitely have heard of Patreon. It's a service that allows creators to accept donations from their fans so that they can continue to create more content for them. Many creators on YouTube use this service specifically, and Facebook wants creators now to have a similar choice. One of the new creators' features announced by Facebook today is the ability of fans to support their favorite creators by paying monthly.
Fans who decide to make monthly payments to support their favorite creators will receive exclusive content as an incentive. They'll also get a new badge that shows their support for creators. Distinguished fans will be able to show this badge based on how frequently their comments, their participation, or interaction with their favorite content creators.
The world's most popular social network also wants to facilitate branding with creators. Creators will now be allowed to create a portfolio that highlights a range of their work so that advertisers can then search and find creators who want to work on ad campaigns for these brands.
Facebook is only currently testing these new features for content creators, so it is currently not widely available. This depends on the results that Facebook will reach at the end of the test period.
